If you are unlucky enough to suffer an injury whilst abroad, then there are a number of steps you should take in order to make the process of claiming compensation run smoothly. You should report the accident as soon as it happens, either to your holiday representative or to whoever is responsible for the place where the incident happened. You should also report your accident to your travel insurer as soon as possible, and make sure the incident is accurately recorded in the appropriate accident log books.

Next, obtain an accident report form from your tour operator, or from where the accident happened. If you are refused one for whatever reason, make up your own copy, detailing exactly what happened, and have it signed by an independent witness for verification. If possible, take photographs or video footage of where the accident happened, and what caused the accident if applicable.

If you received medical treatment for your injury, then you should obtain a letter or other evidence of treatment from the medical institution where you were treated. Make a note of any expenses that you may incur as a result of the accident and keep hold of any receipts. Then, once you arrive home, contact us as soon as possible to begin the process of claiming compensation.
